Blepharoplasty

The eye is one of the most aging area on our face. It shows signs of aging faster than other areas of the face. The upper eyelid will become saggy. These is a hooding on the upper eyelid fold and obscures the definition of the fold. The lower eyelid will be puffy or has lower eyelid bags. The junction between the lower eyelid and the cheek becomes prominent and visible. All of these makes us looks tired and sleepy.

Blepharoplasty is the procedure to address the eyelid aging. It will tighten the excess skin to reduce the sagginess. Some of the fat in the eyelid will be removed to remove the puffiness.  For the upper eyelid, the incision will be in the upper eyelid crease and will not be visible from the beginning. The lower eyelid surgery will be done via the cut right in the natural crease under the lower eyelashes. It will be covered by the lower eyelashes and is very well hidden.

The eyelid surgery will be done under local anesthesia as an outpatient. It will take approximately 1 hour to perform for each upper and lower eyelid. There will be very minimal pain and discomfort after the surgery. Normally, the patient will look socially presentable in 7-10 days after the surgery. Residual swelling will improve during the next few weeks, but it will be minimal and can be easily covered by make-up.
